About this type

The original 737 generation, with slim cigar-shaped JT8D engines tucked tight under the wing. Gravel-kit equipped -200s still serve remote northern strips no modern jet can touch.

If your station ever logs one, check the operator: it is almost certainly working somewhere wonderfully remote.

First flight: August 8, 1967.

Gravel kits let it operate from unpaved runways.

The engines are so slim because bypass ratios were tiny in 1967.
