About this type

Born as the Bombardier CSeries CS100 in Canada, this clean-sheet small airliner became the A220-100 when Airbus took over the program in 2018. Its Pratt & Whitney geared turbofans make it one of the quietest jets at any gate.

Spotters pick it out by the tall, curved nose and the huge passenger windows, unusually large for a jet this size.

First flight: September 16, 2013, as the CSeries CS100.

The only Airbus family that was designed entirely outside Airbus.

Its GTF engines cut noise footprint dramatically compared to older regional jets.
