About this type
The original Beluga: an A300-600 rebuilt with a bulbous upper fuselage to ferry aircraft sections between Airbus factories. Only five exist, and they fly almost nowhere except Airbus's own network.
Catching one outside western Europe is a genuine event; catching one at all earns bragging rights.
First flight: September 13, 1994.
Carries complete wings and fuselage sections between Airbus plants.
Officially the Super Transporter, universally called the Beluga.
