About this type

When it flew in 2001 this was the longest airliner ever built, a 75-meter four-engined giant with Trent 500s. High fuel costs ended its career early, and active airframes are now genuinely scarce.

So long that a tail camera was fitted just to help pilots taxi without scrubbing the main gear on turns.

First flight: April 23, 2001.

At 75.36 m it held the world length record until the 747-8.

Has an underfloor galley and crew area below the passenger deck.
