About this type
Europe's heavy tactical airlifter mixes turboprop ruggedness with jet-age size. Its four TP400s are the most powerful turboprops in the western world, swinging huge eight-blade scimitar props.
The props on each wing rotate toward each other, a rare down-between-engines arrangement that cancels torque and looks wonderfully odd head-on.
First flight: December 11, 2009.
Each TP400 engine produces over 11,000 shaft horsepower.
Can deliver cargo to rough dirt strips a jet could never use.
