About this type
Sweden's 34-seat turboprop became a quiet global workhorse: regional passenger runs, then cargo and special missions. Australia and the Americas keep large fleets earning daily.
Saab left civil aviation in 1999, so every 340 is a survivor of an abandoned product line, still utterly dependable.
First flight: January 25, 1983.
Over 450 were built in Linköping, Sweden.
Many now fly as freighters and surveillance platforms.
