The Superjet 100 was the first clean-sheet Russian airliner after the Soviet era, flown in 2008 with SaM146 engines built jointly by France's Safran and Russia's Saturn. Aeroflot became the dominant operator.
Sanctions pushed the program toward fully Russian systems, so the fleet now flies almost entirely inside Russia and a few friendly markets. Catching one outside that footprint is a rare stamp.
First flight: May 19, 2008.
Around 200 built; most fly within Russia.
The SaM146 engine was a French-Russian joint venture.
